It had been a crazy few hours. He'd come back from his celebration with Steve and gone straight home. He knows that he should really be going to Colombia to not mess up timelines too much or whatever but he can't bring himself to do it. So instead he goes home. Besides he has Kekoa with him that he has to take care of and he can't bring the dog to prison.

His first phonecall is to Grace. To let her know her Daddy is alright and home. He promises to come see her later that day. Then the next call is a quick one to Steve. Letting him know that he is home. He knows that means Steve is coming right over and somehow he can't stop his heart from beating faster. Does Steve remember? Is it even the same Steve? Would he really not have said anything for all these years. Danny finds that hard to believe.

He is in the kitchen making coffee when he hears the door open and Kekoa rush to greet whoever it is.

HISTORY

I am thinking of pulling him in from season 5 when he ends up in a Colombian prison.

PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

What skills does your character bring to the situation?:
Danny is a detective and has been for many years, with that comes knowledge of how to conduct an investigation, how to deal with emergencies as well as gun training. He is also used to leading a team, having been the guy in charge of the 5-0 task force when Steve is away. As a leader he is hands on and involved and he will gladly check up on those who work for him, this is something he does even when he is 'just' second in command in the task force.

He takes care of people and became a cop because he wants to keep people safe. That is something he'll bring with him. He is also loyal to a fault and once he has decided people are part of his family he will go to extremes to make sure they are happy and safe. In his canon this includes engaging in dangerous and in some cases illegal trips and activities. While I hope there will be less need for that in game he will still have that passion.

Why did you choose this specific character for 6I, and how do you picture them fitting into the game?
I think Danny could be a good fit because of the reasons listed above. I think it is also interesting to take a character from a modern setting like Danny and see how they deal with the loss of technology. Danny is not as dependent on technology as some but even then he is used to the convenience and being able to easily find information. Further more I think it will be interesting for him to deal with his skills not being immediately useful and for him to figure out how to best pull his weight. I think he will want to pick up a trade and I'd love to play out him being an apprentice and learning a trade.

One of the big reasons I love Danny in the series and why I like Hawaii 5-0 in general is because it is a lot about the idea of a found family or Ohana as Steve calls it in the show. Danny is very open and caring and I would love to play out him sort of collecting himself a family that he can not only take care of but also rely on when he has though times.

How do you imagine your character will survive in 6I, and in what ways will they contribute to the settlement, if any?
Danny would want to pull his weight in the community, and preferably in ways he is good at. He would be interested in trying to figure out whenever something bad happens and make sure that those that do wrong are brought to justice. He would also work hard to keep people safe from any disasters, natural or otherwise, that would happen. To him that is what being a cop is all about and on top of it being something he is good at, it would be a way for him to connect with his old life.

He would also most certainly try to take up a job. Being someone who is a good shot both with a gun and a bow and arrow, he would try to take up hunting. Danny is someone who has been raised in a city and never been very physical so he might not start out being very good at jobs that require some specialized knowledge like blacksmithing or tailoring. He is a decent cook and can help out in the kitchen and he would be interested in picking up a trade if anyone wants to have him as an apprentice.

Explain how your character would react to:

- Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable:
It would hit Danny hard not to be able to be with his kids. Given that Steve McGarrett is in the game missing him would not be so much of an issue but he'd miss the rest of the team, especially Kono and Chin who he has worked with for years. The hardest part would be the kids. He moved to Hawaii so he could be a part of his daughter's life and he is willing to kill to protect them.

It will also be hard for him to accept that he has no control over the situation. At first it will remind him of when Rachel took their daughter and moved to Hawaii. Working with Steve he has also in many ways had to let go of control for himself, but he has also been more willing to fight to stay with his loved ones. He was fighting Rachel when she wanted to move away from Hawaii with Grace and thus force Danny to either give up his kid or his friends. In game he won't be able to fight, or if he does it won't have any effect and it will hit him hard. Depending a little on how the support network around him is he might continue trying to get back or he might completely fall apart. Either way he will most likely reach out to people, Danny is a people person and it is not his style to keep all of this inside, but rather he wants to talk about it to process it.

- Their environment being manipulated to prevent them leaving the area:
The environment being actively manipulated to mess with them and prevent them from leaving and in his case prevent him from being able to go home to his kid will be something he'll react to with first disbelief and then anger. Danny doesn't like being used as a pawn in games and he would try to figure out who is behind it and how he can get to them. Over the course of the years the 5-0 task force have several times been played with and Danny does not take it well. He has quite a bit of anger and he might snap at other people trying to reason with him when he has his worst moments. As mentioned above Danny is very open about his emotions, especially anger and frustration. After a while he might calm down about it, not quite giving up trying to figure out who is behind it but more realizing that figuring that out will be a long game rather than a short one.

- Being physically and/or mentally manipulated, such as having hallucinations or suddenly possessing special abilities they did not have before:
Continuing the theme of trying to figure out who is behind keeping them here and playing this game with them he might play along to see if it brings him closer to figuring it out. But he would not have an easy time with being mentally manipulated and he would have an even worse time seeing his friends go through it. He would want to take the burden from them if he could. When things happen is also when people can expect him to snap and get angry with them. Danny would get stressed by his friends being in distress or in danger and he reacts to stress by getting snappy and angry.

Getting actual powers would confuse him but I could actually see him enjoy them. Danny is a human with no special powers and being short and with a bad knee he also isn't the most physical person, especially compared to his partner. He might even show off a bit if the powers lend themselves to it. Then he would try to figure out how to work with the powers and how to use them to his advantage.

POWERS & SPECIAL ABILITIES

None. Danny is just your regular human

WRITING SAMPLES

Sample 1: Here (AU with a couple of other characters.)

Sample 2: Scenario 1 of the Autumn TDM
Danny is a worrier and always has been, but this is giving him even more reason to be worried than normal. It had been a wet and cold summer which meant their crops had not been growing as well as expected and some had failed completely. There were almost no wild berries left and by this time last year their stores had been filled with jams and other preserved fruit and this year what they had would have to be saved for special occasions. It wasn't the lack of food that worried him as much as how hunger and scarcity tended to bring out people's bad sides.

Danny lifts the last of the pumpkins into the cart before heading back towards the houses. He does his best at hiding his worry but Danny Williams has never been a good liar, at least not to people he cares for. And he cares for the people here, that is why he is worried. His smile at the harvest feast isn't as real as it could be, and he makes sure to eat a little less than he has to. A few days later he grabs the bow he had gotten made and heads out into the woods. He might not be as well trained at tracking through the forest as some of the others but he does know how to shoot, he is hoping to put that skill to good use and make sure there is a bit more food in the larder.

Sample 3:
"There is no way this is going to work." Danny sighs as his partner once again completely ignores him. One thing is for sure, Steve is never going to change. Danny's met rocks more willing to change than his partner. "Hey, hey hey, listen to me babe, there is no way this is going to work." Danny reaches out to pull Steve back to face him. He knows that stubborn look on Steve's face but he also knows it is possible to get through to him. "Steve, listen, I know that bridge is the quickest way off here but it is also far too risky. Look at it, it looks like it wouldn't hold the weight of a child let alone the two of us." Danny gestures as he talks.

They had been on the way to interview a suspect when a mudslide had blocked the road. And thanks to Steve's 'shortcut' they were now stuck in the middle of nowhere with Danny's car half covered in mud. Steve had decided they could make their way down to a village he knew about and for the most part it had been alright. Except for this. The bridge that spanned the gorge was old and clearly not well maintained and it looked like it was only luck holding it up. "Steve, seriously, look at that drop. We won't survive a fall." Danny shakes his head as his partner argues that they have no other choice. "I don't want to do it." He tries to argue one last time, even though he knows Steve will win this argument.

Danny is Steve's guide. He is still pretty new at it and working with a Sentinel who has some bad experiences. To top if off, while working a case in Portland he finds out that a guide can have more than one Sentinel who is their perfect match.

Character Name: Daniel Williams (Nicknamed Danny or Danno)
Series: Hawaii 5-0
Age: Mid to late 30s
From When?:
Season 5, Episode 18. Danny's on the way home from Colombia

Inmate/Warden:
Warden
Danny is a good guy, he might be loud and happy to punish people, but it is people he thinks deserves it. He is also loyal and will stay by those he considers his people. He is open and honest and not afraid to give anyone a talking to should they deserve one. He is good at reading people and while he might be an ass he does care about people and want to do the right thing. He won't be scared away even by an inmate who doesn't want to deal with him and he'll stick around for them

Item:
His cell phone.

Abilities/Powers:None, Danny is a good old fashioned human. He is a decent shot with a gun and can hold his own in a fight.

Personality:
Danny Williams is loud, opinionated and quite a bit of an asshole. He often makes snarky little remarks to people, especially those he likes. He often claims he hates Hawaii and especially Steve, but that is clearly not actually the case. He will threaten and argue with people and suspects and he can get really pissed of if you hit the right buttons. Unfortunately for Danny those buttons are not hard to guess either, it is his family and his friends. He also tends to respond to threatening situations by getting even worse, taunting people who have him captured. Danny likes to follow the rulebook, at least to comment on when his team mates does not. He often chastises Steve for not following the rules and procedures but over the years that has become less of a thing and he has been known to be playing more fast and lose with the rules.

Danny is also loyal to a fault and he sees himself as a protector of those he loves, even if they are capable of taking care of themselves. The times when his darker side comes out is when his family is in danger or if he feels they or him have been betrayed. He has shot both his ex-wife's new husband and his ex-partner (in the shoulder and knee respectively). He also threatened to kill his ex-partner if he ever came after Grace again. Infact when it comes to Grace he can be a bit overprotective, often complaining about how fast she is growing up and that she is starting to be interested in boys.

On the same token he will accept help if it is offered to him and he needs it, like he did when Chin offered him the money to get Matt back. While he might not use the word Ohana to describe them it is clear that the team are part of what he considers his family. He invites them into his home and his life and he has their backs. He also needs them, everything from talking him out of panicking when he is trapped in a small room to giving advise about his love life. He trusts that they will take care of Grace if something should happen to him. He asks Steve to do that before he gets sent to Colombia.

He connects well with kids and he tends to be a little too invested in cases where kids are getting hurt. He once handed Steve his badge and gun and got Steve to leave him alone with a suspect who had been kidnapping kids and would not tell them where the kid was. He then proceeded to beat the location of the kid out of the suspect. He is also often the one who takes care of kids they find. He will also often be the one comforting victim's families.

Danny is one of the most honest and affectionate members of the 5-0 team. He often does little physical affections like hugs and touches and he will tell people he loves them. He is also open about his feelings and it confuses and frustrates him that not all the members of his team are the same way. When Steve finally opens up and tells him a personal story he hasn't told anyone else, Danny does not make fun of him but instead takes him seriously and later shows Steve that he really listened. It is also obvious when he worries about people. His daughter is the most obvious target for much of this worry but there is also plenty for Steve and the rest of the team. You see this the times Steve has been captured by their enemies Danny is often on the front lines to bring him home and won't leave his side when Steve is healing up.

Barge Reactions:
Danny will react in disbelief that people he knows from movies or books are suddenly walking around and talking. He might not be the most well versed in nerd culture but he does know a few things. In the beginning he might thing it is a dream or that he is hallucinating but as he realizes it is real he might freak out. He will be happy and worried to see Steve and Mary there and he'll do what he can to get them home.

Floods and breaches might affect him differently depending on the setting. The ones where he ends up having a family and kids could go either way. He might enjoy it but he might also be reminded of his own family that he is being kept away from. He is not going to do well with feeling helpless and feeling like he can't protect those he cares about.

He will not remember the brief trip he had to the barge during the VIP flood.

Deal:
Since he discovered that Reyes had killed his brother, Matt, Danny's been feeling like there is more he should have done. His deal isn't to change what he did, but rather that the body in the oil drum that Reyes claimed was Matt's wasn't actually Matt and that Matt is still out there alive.

Sample Journal Entry:
[It is one of the common rooms and the feed shows a box of pizza and a six pack of beer on the table, both with Swedish writing on them. Then the feed shows Danny holding up a piece of pizza for the camera. The topping looks bananas in a lightly brown sauce, possibly curry.]

This is what I get for ordering pizza from a guy who only speaks IKEA or whatever the fuck they speak here in Stockholm. This is ... this is not pizza alright? I'll take one of Kamekona's spam and shrimp Hawaiian pizzas over this crap any day. And if you have tried the things Kamekona does to shrimp you will know how bad that is. And spam is not a food group despite what certain people claim. All I wanted was a simple tasty proper pizza the way they make them back home. You know how hard it is to get decent pizza in Hawaii. Then I come here, and I am pretty sure most of you have no idea what a proper pizza is supposed to be and finally we have a stop somewhere I have at least some hope that there might be a decent pizza. No. Instead you have this abomination. The only fruit that you should ever, under any circumstance put on a pizza is tomatoes.

[He leans back and picks up one of the beers.]

I had been hoping to invite people for pizza and a movie. Well I guess I still can. Though the pizza is all yours if you want it.

Sample RP: Post when he swapped with Steve for the vip flood

Special Notes:
While Danny was visiting for the vip flood he will not be remembering any of that.
